Dad is home!!!!

All-in-all it was a very successful week.  I didn't lose my marbles until naptime on the last day.  (If you count hoping that they don't wake up from their naps until bedtime losing your marbles...)  The only disastrous part of the house is the kitchen.  I thought about posting a picture of it as a joke, but everytime I look at it I cry, so I skipped it.

Dad is home and let me tell you, Leo couldn't be happier.
(He wouldn't even let me read him his bedtime story - only Dad could do it.)

Here is a quick recap of our successful week:

We at nutritious foods

We always dressed for success

We did our chores

We had quality "family" dinner time ...(with Shrek)

But most important of all: When the children are in my care,
you can rest assured that they are 100% safe.

and well taken care of

Thank God Dad is home

Mom vs. the kids - 2nd to last day

Riddle me this: I put him to bed at 8:30, he wakes up at 8:30.  8:30 is too late to start my day.

I put him to bed at 7:30, he wakes up at 6:30??  How can I pry him off his sister if it's so early I can't pry my eyes open?!  Have I mentioned how much he loves her??

Tonight they went to bed at 8:15.  Let's see if I can get a few extra minutes to catch my breath before they're awake!!

Today we played Peek-A-Boo with no pants on

and went to the farm for our veggies.

Leo was so excited to see the puppies and called them all "Patches!"

He didn't realize that they were teething...
Or that there were 10 of them...

10 teething puppies would freak me out too - especially when they're chewing on your shorts.
I had to shut the camera off at this point while Leo kicked the puppies and screamed "TOP!"  When one puppy saw how much fun the other was having, they would come running over and chew on his shoes, shorts, fingers, legs - whatever they could get.  I could barely stop laughing long enough to pull him away from the puppies.  Sorry Leo...

I put him somewhere safe.  Can you spot him?

Here's a close-up

One small victory for today that definitely put me on top.  I usually toss all of Elena's toys in the Pack'N'Play to keep track of them.  Today, I tossed one in and didn't realize that Leo had tossed one of his toys in there earlier.
Seriously??  What are the odds????
HECK YEAH!!  Good thing the Frederick County Fair is coming up.
I'ma gonna have to try my luck on the ring toss!!

Mom - 100 pts for the ring toss alone.  I win.

Mom vs. the kids - Day whatever

Can someone please hit the snooze button and wake me up when he's home?  Seriously - all you military wives, single moms or wives of traveling minstrels, my heart goes out to you.  This stuff is exhausting.  The funny thing is, we had a fantastic day.  I'm just plum-exhausted is all.

After waking up at 7 am to the puttering of little feet and a sweet little voice saying, "Pooboo* where are you?" (*Pooboo stands for peek-a-boo), we shoved off for a walk and I picked up 4 bottles of Prego sauce for my Pizza Pasta addiction for only $3.00.  Yum...

The day was starting off great except for the Starbucks brain explosion.  I was waiting in the drive-thru line - well actually, the drive-thru was full, so I pulled off to the side with my blinker pointing to the lane.  Another driver pulled up behind me.  Then road-rager in her mini-van comes zipping up past us on the left-side of the parking lot to hug the drive-thru lane.  Uh...no you didn't.

I calmly went to knock on her window to let her know that she should look next time.  (I was way more polite than I should have been.)  She shrugged her shoulders and said, "Usually everyone is on the left side and you are on the wrong side."  Oh wow.  I hope you asked for a splash of kindness in your cup 'o joe today.  I was so put off by the whole event I had to leave the Starbucks and move on with my life.  Sitting behind her in the line would have caused one big emergency trip to confession...

Anyway, I scored big at the Old Navy $2.00 tank top sale.  I wear Old Navy tank tops every day as "undershirts" so this was huge for me.  4 tops should do me well for a long time - and for $8?  Sweet!

Then off to Oma's for some delicious coffee where I was 1st in line.  The heat mandated a quick dip in the pool.  Oma improvised a bit when we couldn't find a hat for Elena.
Poor girl - this was yanked off the ginormous doll in Oma's room.  Perfect fit :)

During the huge thunderstorm, Dutch came running down to Oma's house to be around us.  Leo loves Dutch...maybe even more than me.  I'm not entirely sure.

We spent the rest of the day at home where I got to sort through my stacks of coupons Oma snagged for me.  Can't WAIT to cash in these bad-boys!  (Simple mind, simple pleasures.)
I'm so tired that when I accidentally collapsed one of the rails of the Pack'N'Play, this is as far as I got in attempting to put it back together.  Where is my husband? There are Pack'N'Plays to assemble!!
(No children were harmed in the taking of this photograph.)

I think I definitely won today.  Actually, the lady in the Starbucks line got away with a piping hot coffee in her hands...so maybe she won?  All I know is I'm brewing coffee at home tomorrow :)

Mom vs. the kids - Day 4

Day 4 already??  I haven't even hit the beer/wine store once yet!  I might survive this week after all.

Leo is still sick and refused to eat all morning.  I offered him a billion things.  Around 10:30 he looked up at me all sad and said "Pancake?"

Hey, the kid just wanted some pancakes!!  Absolutely!  When my kids are sick, I pull out all the stops...you want pancakes?  Well, get started then!

2 min later:

Instant transformation after he devoured the syrup...er...I mean pancakes.
He's a new man.

Followed by another melt-down at naptime.  Being sick sucks the life out of him!
And yes - I am bribing him with mini-Oreos.  I desperately needed him to drink water and they were the only thirst-inducing food he would touch!

Elena's not buying it.  She thinks he's bluffing just to get more Oreo's

We did score some awesome sales at Target today for arts & crafts. We got this stuff (plus the orange TV tray stool) for less than $10!  And the highlight of my day was gas.  I haven't seen $2.19/gal since my chunky heel and button down suede shirt days!

Now a word of caution.  If you happen to mention to your tubby-loving toddler that it is almost tubby-time, keep an eye on them that tubby-time doesn't start without you.
I think we can all say with confidence that Leo came out on top today :)

Mom vs. the kids - Day 3

Ah yes - hitting my stride now.

I decided, after a month of R&R, to get off my butt again and start my morning walk with the kids again.  It's hard to walk away from the coffee-maker and know that I might not get my 1st cup until the kids nap at 1:00.  But as long as I'm holding on tight to the stroller I won't trip, fall or give-up.

And we even squeezed in a quick stop to Giant for some bargain hunting and ingredients for some more PIZZA PASTA.  A big thank you to the local UPS hub that sent out all trucks at 9:00 am - the endless stream of trucks provided Leo with over an hour of entertainment.  He was as excited about that 1st truck as he was about the 20th!

$13.42 in savings!! Ta-da!
I must mention, it was a little sad when the UPS driver knocked on our door to drop of a package, Leo looked at me all excited and proclaimed, "DADA!!!!"...  He is a little confused as to where Dad is.  All he knows is that Dad is working in "Nowio" (Ohio).  Nothing a little consolation from his sister couldn't fix.

We also got to take our "mailbox" out for our Mail Carrier again today.

I even managed to squeeze in a trip to Rite Aid.  After raiding the store for the best deals, I finally got to the register and couldn't believe the kids weren't screaming.  In my panic to get out before they lost it, I forgot to hand in my savings card.  We made it all the way home before I figured it out!  Well, I drove back to pick up an extra $4.50 in savings!!  All-in-all,  I picked all of this up for $10.00 (I saved over $13!).  We only paid for the Re-Nu and Acitaminophen!!

Highlight of the day - My niece Monica came to visit.

Somehow we started discussing fattening foods.  We got onto Outback Cheese Fries.

Me: Wow...2,900 calories
Monica: In one serving?
Me: No - total.
Monica: Uh..is there an Outback close by?
Me: Yes...why?
Monica: Want some cheese fries?
Me: Yes
*frantically google's Outback's number*

Such a great way to spend an evening:

Me - 2,000 cal / Outback - $8.75 (Still not sure who came out on top today)
