Desperate times call for Chocolate Cake in a Mug!

I am extremely tired today.  When I am this tired, my ability to reason disappears as well as any inclination toward rational decision-making.

After dinner (yup...leftovers), I hit a stage where everytime I tried to speak, all that came out was "chocolate".  Everytime I tried to type an email, all that appeared on the screen was "chocolate".  I even thought about making banana bread with chocolate chips.  Yeaaaah - thinking about it tired me out too.

So, I googled "quick chocolate dessert microwave" and I happened upon a recipe for "Chocolate Cake in 5 minutes" on Dizzy Dee's blog.  5 minutes sounded like an acceptable amount of effort.  So I got crackin'

Ingredients:

4 Tablespoons cake flour
4 Tablespoons sugar
2 Tablespoons cocoa
1 Egg
3 Tablespoons milk
3 Tablespoons oil
1 Mug

Start with the flour, sugar and cocoa

Add in the egg

Stir in the milk and oil (I added some chocolate chips too)

Microwave on high for 3 minutes and voila!

Sorry babe - Momma's not sharing

The flavor wasn't blow me away fantastic but this cake certainly hit the spot.  It was entirely too large of a serving and I probably ought to have shared a bit with the family.  But I didn't.  Mission Get Chocolate in my Belly complete.  Mission Pass Out commencing.

  3. We use this recipe a lot as well when we need chocolate. We upped the sugar to two more tablespoons and a splash more milk. Makes all the difference.
