$31,500

That is how much money Dr. LeRoy Carhart pulled in this morning at the Germantown Reproductive Health Services clinic.  A total of 9 women rushed into the clinic this morning to receive the kick-start to the 3-day abortion procedure: the lethal injection.
Carhart employs a modified version of the...partial birth abortion procedure when aborting late-term babies that was developed by George Tiller.  It is a multiday process where a poison is injected into the baby’s heart, which is suppose to kill the baby. The woman is then packed with dilators known as laminaria and sent home or to a hotel to await the onset of labor.  In second trimester babies, Carhart may dismember the body to remove the remains from the mother’s womb in a procedure known as D&E (dilation and evacuation).  Older babies are delivered intact, sometimes into a toilet.  Others are delivered feet first, except for the head, which is then punctured so that the brains can vacuumed from the cranium to collapse the skull so it slips easily from the birth canal.  http://www.kickoutcarhart.com/docs/CarhartReignTerror.pdf

All of these women were much further along in their pregnancies than I am in mine.  I am already feeling my baby kick...

While I recognize that all forms of abortion are heinous, the late-term procedure is just revolting.

Last week, Christians and Catholics teamed up en masse to present the Summer of Mercy 2.0.  Many showed their support for Life and came to pray outside the Germantown Late Term Abortion Clinic for 9 days straight.

I missed it.  I have no excuses.  I live 30 minutes from the clinic and should have been there.  You know what I was thinking?  Well - whenever they plan these extravaganzas, lots of other people participate.  I can sit this one out.

Oops.

Yesterday, my sister showed me a video of the newest addition to the parish I grew up in: Father Marcel Guarnizo.  He spoke at the Summer of Mercy and, although I missed it, I heard him LOUD and CLEAR!!  I picked up my trampled ego, threw the kids in the car this morning and drove down to the clinic to join over 100 people* in peaceful prayer and protest.

The video that jump-started my conscience is this one.  You MUST watch it!!

Father Marcel is my new hero.  He tells it like it is.  With his past experiences in Communist countries and his fearless attitude toward keeping it "politically correct," he is the kind of priest we love (and others love to hate).  Both Jason and myself were excited about attending the protest this morning.  He stopped by on his way to work.  Even my niece and a couple of my nephews made an attempt to wake up before noon just to support the cause ;)

This photo is just the short length of the sidewalk on one side of the entrance to the clinic.  The other side of the sidewalk is much longer and our people spanned the length of it.

If you look carefully, you can see the two pro-choice "escorts" taking videos of themselves among the "Woman-Haters Club of America."  But I think they just wanted to experience what it was like to be surrounded by people (only about 20-30 pro-aborts showed up).

As they walked through taking video of us, Jason grabbed our camera and snapped a few photos.  This one was taken seconds before he got flipped the bird.  But not a pregnant bird!!  The bird had no choice in the matter.  In fact, we should start a "Birds for Choice" group.  Maybe the bird didn't want to be flipped.  But the bird was attached to the hand of the woman.  Her choice bird.  Sorry - you just must be flipped.

And then Father Marcel jumped in.  He walked in step with them for a few seconds and then engaged in conversation.  It didn't last long.  But I have a feeling they won't forget Father Marcel for quite a while.

I am going to make an effort to be at the clinic as much as possible until it closes.  I would like to ask all my local friends to join me.  It is uncomfortable, confrontational and sad.  But if we don't put the pressure on the clinic to close, who will???  Monday mornings at the clinic between 7 and 10.  (Park at Mother Seton parish.)

I often go back and forth with the thinking that standing outside a clinic is scary and overwhelming for these young girls.  I don't want them to hurt more than they do.  But then when I hear that the pressure from the neighboring business to close down the clinic because our protests are driving away their business is actually working - I have to stick it out.  There are very few late-term abortionists in the United States.  If the pressure to close his nasty and unclean clinic comes from his own neighbors and community as a result of me standing outside for 2 hours on a Monday morning??

I can do that.

Here are some success stories for your enjoyment:

*I have no idea how many people were actually there.  Admittedly, I'm the WORST at estimations like this.  I never once won a jelly beans in the jar counting contest.  However, I am almost certain that there were either very close to 100 or 100+ people there today!
